Terms of Use

Last updated: October 25, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Tasting Intelligence, an editorial field guide to drinks operated by Vijay Bhagwandas in the Netherlands. By using the website, with an account or in Guest Mode, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

1. Use of the Website

You must be of legal drinking age in your country, and at least 18 years old, to use Tasting Intelligence. Use the website lawfully and for its intended purpose: exploring, reviewing and learning about drinks. Do not disrupt the service, try to access accounts or systems that are not yours, or misuse our code.

You can like and review drinks in Guest Mode without creating an account. These terms apply to guests and account holders alike. A guest account is tied to one device; our Privacy Policy explains how long it is kept.

2. Intellectual Property & Data Usage

2.1 Proprietary Rights

Tasting Intelligence retains full ownership of its brand name, logo, visual design, software code and editorial content, such as the Guide and AI Insights. Copying or reselling our software infrastructure is prohibited.

2.2 Open Data License (Commercial Allowed)

We support innovation. The flavor profiles, charts and other aggregated data points on our public pages may be collected, analyzed and used for personal and commercial purposes, provided that you credit Tasting Intelligence with a link.

Our aggregated data is partly derived from tasting notes on third-party tasting platforms. This license covers our aggregated data only, not the original texts from those platforms or any other content we do not own.

API & Bulk Redistribution Restriction: This permission strictly excludes the right to redistribute, resell, or re-host our structured database in bulk, or to replicate our underlying data structure as a standalone API or public dataset. Commercial API access remains reserved for proprietary licensing.

Attribution: Link back to Tasting Intelligence required.
Commercial Use: Allowed for insights, apps, and charts.
No API Replication: Bulk resale or competing data feeds are prohibited.

3. User Content & Conduct

3.1 Community Standards & Conduct

To maintain a high-quality database, we expect all users to adhere to standards of decency. While we encourage honesty, the following rules apply:

  • Respectful Feedback: Negative reviews are allowed and encouraged if they are honest, but personal attacks, discriminatory language, or violent rhetoric are strictly prohibited.
  • Decency: Users must use appropriate language. Reviews containing profanity or offensive slurs will be removed.
  • Feedback Loop: Any feedback you provide about the service itself may be used by us for improvements without financial compensation.
3.2 Data Entry & AI

You keep ownership of the reviews you post. By posting one, you give Tasting Intelligence a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, display and analyze it and to use it in our aggregated data and AI Insights. Your review is shown in its original language on your profile when your profile is public. For the analysis it is machine-translated into English and processed by AI models. You can have one active review per drink; when you edit it, we keep the earlier version.

3.3 Deletion & Persistence

If you delete a review, it is no longer shown or included in our analysis. If you delete your account, your account, profile and likes are removed, but your reviews stay in our database without any link to you, so our historical drink analysis stays intact. The same applies to guest accounts that we remove after a period of inactivity.

3.4 Responsible Use

Tasting Intelligence promotes responsible drinking. Our content is for information only and is not an encouragement to drink. We are not liable for any damage or health issues resulting from the use of our information. Drink in moderation and never drink and drive.

4. Editorial Content & AI

Our drink profiles and AI Insights are drafted with AI from our database, and every insight is reviewed by a person before it is published. They can still contain errors or become outdated, and they are information, not professional advice. The translations of this website are also made with AI; where a translation differs from the English text, the English text prevails.

5. Donations

You can support Tasting Intelligence with a voluntary donation through Stripe. A donation is a gift: it gives you no access, features or other rights, and it is non-refundable, unless the law requires otherwise. Stripe processes your payment; we never receive or store your card details.

6. Limitation of Liability

The website is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by Dutch law, we are not liable for errors, data loss or interruptions of the service.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms when the website changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. If you keep using the website after a change, the updated terms apply.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in The Hague (Rechtbank Den Haag), the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to go to the court where you live.
