Tasting Notes
How do I add a tasting note?
Open a drink and click Rate Drink, or use Add Tasting Note on your profile. Give a rating from 0 to 10 and write 10 to 1000 characters; scores and occasions are optional. You keep one note per drink: a new note for the same drink replaces your earlier one.
What if my drink is not in the guide?
Type the name of the drink in the note form. AI recognises the brand, category and other details and adds the drink to the reference work. Details it is unsure about are flagged for an editorial check.
What happens after I post a note?
Your note is saved at once. In the background, AI reads the text: it detects the language, translates it to English for the analysis and picks out the flavors and the tone. Your own text is never changed. Once the analysis is done, the note counts towards the flavor profile of the drink.
Can I edit or delete a note?
Yes, your own notes, from your profile. You can change the text, rating, scores and occasions; a changed text is analysed again. A deleted note disappears from the site and no longer counts in any profile.
Account & Privacy
What happens in Guest Mode?
You can like and rate drinks without an account. Your first like creates an anonymous guest account: a random ID and a generated name, without name or email. It lives in this browser for at most 30 days, or until you clear its data, so create an account within that time to keep your notes. It is removed after 180 days without use. Notes written as a guest count in the profiles, but nobody sees them until you create an account; they move with you. Read exactly what we store.
Who can see my profile?
You choose in Edit Profile. A public profile, with your tasting notes, liked drinks and saved insights, can be viewed by anyone and is listed in the community. A private profile is only visible to you and the site administrators, and is not listed anywhere; the homepage can take up to a day to drop it. Guests have no profile.
What happens when I delete my account?
Your profile, likes and login are removed. Your notes stay without any link to you, so the flavor profiles they helped build remain intact. Notes are public, so keep personal details out of them. How to delete your data.
Data & Methodology
Where does the flavor data come from?
Tasting Intelligence collects and structures tasting notes and reviews from trusted tasting platforms across the web, and combines them with reviews written by our own community. Together they form the profiles in the reference work and the evidence behind our AI Insights.
How do you decide the category of a drink?
We follow the EU rules for spirit drinks (Regulation (EU) 2019/787). When a case is unclear, or when the rules of the country of origin differ, the EU name decides. In the EU, whisky must be at least 40% and may not be flavoured, so Jameson Orange (Irish whiskey with orange flavour, 30%) is a spirit drink. The same goes for spiced rum. Bourbon meets the EU whisky rules and stays whisky. How we read the label.
What are the Brand DNA and Data Confidence?
The Brand DNA shows a producer’s house style: the flavors that recur across its drinks, drawn from all the tasting notes we have. Data Confidence (0 to 100%) tells you how firm that picture is. It weighs how many reviews there are, how many come from our own community, and how much the reviewers agree. A low score means the profile is still taking shape and needs more community reviews. Explore the Intel Framework.
What is the difference between the score and the community score?
The score out of 10 is the average of every rating of a drink: ratings from our community and ratings that AI calculates from the tone of public tasting notes. The community score only counts ratings written here by people who tasted the drink, and appears once there are five of them. That is why we show it separately: it is the score we trust most. How our scores work.
What are AI Insights?
AI Insights are editorial pieces about patterns in the data, such as a cask type or flavor style that stands out. AI spots the pattern and drafts the text; an editor checks it and decides whether it is published. Nothing goes live without that review. Browse AI Insights.
Support
Is Tasting Intelligence free?
Yes. Everything in the guide is free to read and use, with or without an account. Donations help pay for the servers and the AI analysis.
How can I support the project?
The most valuable contribution is an honest tasting note: every note makes the profiles more reliable for everyone. Want to support the servers directly? A small donation, the price of a coffee or a cocktail, keeps the engine running. Donation Gateway.
