Cookie Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

Tasting Intelligence uses cookies to enhance your experience, maintain your secure login, and analyze traffic. This Cookie Policy explains our cookie usage and your options.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) to support website functionality, remember your preferences, and provide us with anonymized analytics data. They help us ensure a seamless experience as you explore our database.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

To balance privacy with performance, we use three groups of cookies and browser storage:

Essential Authentication (__session)

This cookie is strictly necessary for the security and operation of Tasting Intelligence, for accounts and for Guest Mode alike. It keeps you logged in securely as you navigate the site: __session holds a signed reference to your account and a signed Firebase session. It lasts 14 days and is renewed while you visit. Firebase also keeps your login in the storage of your browser (IndexedDB) until you log out or clear the data of this site. None of this tracks your behavior on external websites.

Functional Cookies & Browser Storage

These remember your choices on this device only and are never shared:

  • ti_lang (cookie, 1 year): your language.
  • age_verified (cookie, 7 days): that you confirmed the legal drinking age.
  • consentMode (local storage): your cookie choice.
  • username (local storage): your username for the profile link, removed when you log out.
  • guestCardDismissedUntil (local storage, 7 days): that you closed the Guest Mode card.
  • queuedToast (session storage): a message shown after the page reloads.
Analytics Cookies

Set by Google Analytics only when you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. They collect anonymized data such as your IP address, the pages you visit and the site that sent you, which helps us improve our content. We use no advertising cookies.

3. How We Use Cookies

We leverage these small data points for the following core purposes:

  • Identity verification and session management.
  • Maintaining site security and preventing unauthorized access.
  • Analyzing traffic patterns to optimize our sensory database.

4. Managing Cookies

You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button at the bottom of every page. You can also delete or block analytics cookies in your browser settings.

5. Changes to This Policy

Tasting Intelligence reserves the right to update this policy as our technology evolves. Significant changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
