Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

At Tasting Intelligence, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you visit our website.

1. Information We Collect

Authentication

Through Firebase Authentication with Google, Facebook or email: your name, email address and a unique ID to manage your account. We do not store profile photos, not even the one from your Google or Facebook account. In Guest Mode only a random ID and a generated name, without name or email (see section 5).

Analytics

Anonymized usage data, IP addresses and browser types via Google Analytics, only when you allow analytics in the cookie banner. We use no advertising or social media pixels.

User Content

Reviews, ratings, and tasting notes you voluntarily submit to our database.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Account management and identity verification.
  • AI-driven analysis to improve flavor profiles and user experience.
  • Security monitoring and GDPR/CCPA compliance.

3. Tracking & Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Sharing is limited to essential service providers:

Service Providers: Google Firebase (Auth & Hosting) and Google Analytics (Metrics).

For more details, see our Cookie Policy.

4. Your Global Rights

GDPR (Europe)

Access, correction, deletion, data portability, and the right to object or withdraw consent.

CCPA (California)

Right to request information about data collection and request deletion of personal info.

5. Guest Mode (Anonymous Accounts)

You can like and rate drinks without an account. Your first like or review creates an anonymous guest account with Firebase Authentication. This is what that means for your data:

  • What we store: a random Firebase ID, a generated name (guest_…), your likes, ratings and reviews, and the time of your last visit. No name, email address or photo.
  • On your device: the essential login cookies and the Firebase login in your browser storage (see our Cookie Policy). Guest Mode lasts at most 30 days, or until you clear the data of this site in your browser; after that, a new like starts a new guest account.
  • Shared devices: everyone using the same browser shares one guest account. Choose "Not you? Start over" to end the guest session. The notes made so far stay with the old guest account and can no longer be opened from this device.
  • Creating an account: your guest notes move to your new account. If you log in to an account you already have, we first ask whether to merge them.
  • No public profile: guests have no profile page and are not listed in the community.
  • Retention: the anonymous Firebase login is deleted 30 days after it was created, unless you have created an account by then. A guest account that has not been used for 180 days is removed from our database: its likes are deleted and its reviews stay without any link to the guest.
  • Deleting guest data: create an account (your notes move with it) and delete that account as described below, or email us.

6. Data Deletion Instructions

How to permanently remove your data:
  1. Login and navigate to your Profile.
  2. Click "Edit Profile" and select the "Privacy" tab.
  3. Locate the "Danger Zone" at the bottom.
  4. Confirm "Delete My Account".
This action is permanent. Your account, profile and likes are deleted, and so is your Firebase login. Your reviews stay in our database without any link to you, so the collective flavor profiles stay intact.

In Guest Mode there is no profile and therefore no delete button. See Guest Mode.
